Fresh off a dazzling performance at BIGSOUND that transformed Brunswick Street Mall into a sea of colour and movement, the band are ready to ignite dancefloors and spark conversations with this exhilarating celebration of identity, pride, and representation.
'Thinkin' Bout' pulsates with gritty guitar riffs and an undeniable energy that captures the band at their most united and resolute. Recorded and mixed once again with Lucas Montgomery, who also worked on previous singles 'Not My Body' and 'Go Fishing', the track showcases a magnetic synergy between all five members. Each lyric is delivered with passionate precision, creating a moody, dramatic, and undeniably anthemic sound that is unmistakably Worm Girlz.
But 'Thinkin' Bout' is more than just a catchy tune; it's a powerful statement of self-acceptance and a love letter to the queer community. “'Thinkin' Bout' is a passionate tribute to the queer community, celebrating how cool, hot, and sexy we are,” guitarist Isabella enthuses. “As a lesbian, this song means so much to me, highlighting our fierce representation and honouring our vibrant experiences. This song is about embracing our true selves, thinking about the amazing girlz in our lives and going bananas over them. Let’s go lesbians!”
This sentiment of liberation and self-discovery resonates throughout the song. Vocalist Lauren shares, “I’m grateful to be alive at a time where sapphic love is celebrated as beautiful and passionate. Writing this song and feeling safe to accept and celebrate this side of myself was incredibly liberating and sometimes feels like a big warm hug to my younger self.”
With 'Thinkin' Bout', Worm Girlz deliver another resonant message that champions unapologetic self-expression and lifts up their community. Having already graced the stages of Laneway Festival and BIGSOUND this year, the band are set to officially launch the single at The Valley Loft in Meanjin on November 16th.
