Friends of Friends' Debut EP Is An Unfiltered Blast of Suburban Aussie Authenticity

Friends of Friends have burst onto the scene with their debut EP, 'REAL LIFE, RIGHT NOW', and it's a raw, emotional rollercoaster that's impossible to ignore. Fresh off a string of high-profile gigs, including sharing the stage with heavy hitters like Post Malone and The Wombats, this trio is quickly gaining a reputation for their lethal modern rock sounds, and it's easy to see why.

The EP is a deeply personal journey, with lyrics that feel like they were ripped straight from the band's diaries. There's an unflinching honesty here that's refreshing in a music scene often dominated by glossy production and manufactured personas. From start to finish, the EP is a contemplation of life, death, and everything in between, set to a soundtrack that blends new-wave punk, 2000s indie, and shoegaze influences.

Frontman Barnaby Baker's vocals are raw and emotive, perfectly complementing the band's DIY ethos. You can hear echoes of The Cure, U2, Blink-182, Radiohead, and Nine Inch Nails, but Friends of Friends manage to forge their own unique sound, one that's both nostalgic and undeniably modern.

It's no surprise that Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park is a fan, having witnessed their electrifying live show in Brisbane. With their relentless DIY spirit and a sound that's as authentic as it gets, Friends of Friends are a band continuing to impress on their own terms.
