South Coast producer and songwriter ioakim has just shared his brand new single 'eight', a seminal release that premieres today. Featuring Sydney-based singer songwriter LORA, the single follows on from ioakim and LORA’s co-headline tour in March, where they played with Friends of Friends across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
Consistently delivering on his signature genre-blurring mix of indie, pop, new wave and electro, ‘eight’ is a natural progression from previous single ‘backseat’. Drenched with swirling synths, sparkling percussion and an overall euphoric tone, ioakim expertly curates a blissful soundscape whilst grappling with all-consuming second guessing.
Enlisting Sydney-based singer-songwriter LORA on today’s single, the pair of bedroom pop kindred spirits lyrically transform the complexities of anxiety into a joyfully warm and fuzzy auditory experience.

It feels like the missing link to ‘backseat’. ‘eight’ explores an underlying anxiety of a relationship through a lens of introspection. The feeling of being trapped in your own mind, clouded by outward opinions and assumptions. Naturally ‘eight’ had be the next release.”
ioakim’s art spans beyond music, curating his artistic vision with fashion and graphic design as extensions of his musical DNA.
