  • 2 min read

A Louisiana-based rapper delivering a conscious stream of brash, determined lyrics and heavy party anthemics, OBN Jay is a new breed of club rap artist. Armed with a visceral sound that draws on his life experiences and ambitions, OBN Jay first began gaining attention through his late-2010s singles such as Big Ole and Chess Not Checkers, as well as collaborations with rappers like Quando Rondo and JayDaYoungan. Now, he’s back in the spotlight with a fantastic new anthem that is sure to impress.

Titled ‘Last Night’, the new single is OBN Jay at his most impressive, lashing out with a massive sound that is taking over the internet. The follow up to his recent smash hit ‘Mac10’, the new cut is the first fully independent track of his career, and it has been a smash hit ever since it dropped. After trending on Instagram and TikTok, the new cut is determined to bring the dance feeling back to Louisiana post-pandemic, becoming the breakthrough moment that OBN Jay well and truly deserves.

OBN Jay grew up in Baton Rouge, where he witnessed crime and violence throughout his youth. He began rapping at a young age and began uploading his music online when he was in high school. In 2020 OBN Jay released a full-length project titled No Commercial Breaks, which featured the late King Von and Jackboy.

Armed with both the new single and a stellar new video, OBN Jay is well and truly making his mark on the modern hip-hop scene.

Jay became an artist to watch on both BET and REVOLT off of this commercial offering. REVOLT stated that Baton Rouge has been a breeding ground of young, fresh talent and said that OBN Jay is the latest from the city to drop some heat.
