proFESSional Tackle Existential Dread & The Impact of Media In Fierce New Single 'Televison'

proFESSional, the band that's been generating a serious buzz in London's indie rock scene, are back with a brand new single, 'Television'. Paired with an equally fierce music video, the track delivers a hefty dose of post-punk energy with a side of existential dread.

Frontman Mani doesn't mince words when describing the song's inspiration. “'Television' lays bare the profound impact of media, and the existential dread channelled directly into our homes," he explains. "It’s a commentary on the overwhelming, ridiculously disturbing overload of information we all consume on a daily basis…”

And that sense of unease is palpable in the lyrics. "I saw the news and now I’m scared to leave the house, I saw it all on television," Mani sings, capturing the feeling of paralysis that can come from being bombarded with negative news. This isn't just about watching telly anymore; it's about the revolution being televised whether we like it or not, and the insidious way information seeps into our lives.

Musically, the track is a driving indie rock anthem that fires on all cylinders. Imagine the raw energy of the Pixies colliding with the sharp, angular guitars of Fontaines D.C., and you're in the right ballpark. The track is packed with post-punk anthemics, gritty riffs, and an undeniable intensity that culminates in the explosive chorus, "Holy mother of fuck, What's on Television?"

Adding another layer of intrigue to the release is the accompanying music video, featuring Dylan Smith, known for his roles in The Rings of Power and The Maze Runner. Available now, the video is a gritty visual feast that complements the song's themes of chaos and madness.

Along with the new release, you can catch proFESSional live in November supporting The Levellers and The Luka State:

  • 12th November - Margate / Dreamland (with Levellers)
  • 14th November - Brighton / Green Door Store (with The Luka State)
  • 16th November - London / 100 Club (with The Luka State)

proFESSional, comprised of Mani, Rob Hennebry, Paul Fifield, Marco Gaspari, and Jonny Brister, are clearly a band on the rise. With their explosive live shows and a sound that channels the best of indie rock's past and present, they're definitely ones to watch. If 'Television is anything to go by, they're about to turn a lot of heads.
