Tasmania's Tessa Lee Unveils Her Bittersweet Third Single of the Year With 'Mountains'

Tasmanian singer-songwriter Tessa Lee has released her third stellar single of 2024 with 'Mountains', a bittersweet, wanderlust anthem. Serving as the final preview of her forthcoming album of the same name, 'Mountains' follows the success of her previous track 'Dear Friend', which gained national airplay and critical acclaim.

The single 'Mountains' is a sonic embodiment of youthful wanderlust. Infectious riffs, a fiery guitar solo, and Lee's signature sweet harmonies intertwine to tell the bittersweet tale of young love lost to the allure of the open road.

“‘Mountains was written whilst I was travelling through Canada," Lee shares. "As so often happens, various romantic liaisons occurred, and none could keep me at the time. I was far too intent on seeing what was around the next corner. The chorus lyrics refer to this wonderful freedom, of having 'Mountains in my eyes'. The travel bug is hard to shake once it bites, and this song came about due to having divided loyalties - love or the open road.

The accompanying music video is a visual love letter to Tasmania. Featuring stunning scenery shot mostly on a phone, Lee embraces a DIY aesthetic, demonstrating that creativity doesn't have to be expensive. "Creating music and film can be expensive, so I just decided to put this together without a budget," she explains.

The album 'Mountains', recorded at Rolling on the River Studios, promises a diverse and heartfelt musical journey. Spanning country ballads to indie rock anthems, the album showcases Lee's mature songwriting and arrangements, backed by the talents of The Cold Weather Band.

With captivating artwork by emerging artist Zoe Grey, 'Mountains' is shaping up to be a landmark release for Tessa Lee. You can stream the new single above, and keep your eyes peeled for the full album set to be released on October 15th.
