The new single from Toronto-based teen D.I.Y pop singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist AVIV, 'Jimmy's House' is "a song about worry, particularly anxiety caused by physical distance."
AVIV has found success opening recently for the likes of Imagine Dragons on their latest arena tour as well as being added to coveted Spotify playlists including New Music Friday, Young & Free, Bedroom Pop and more. She has also received acclaim from the likes of The Line of Best Fit, One's to Watch and LADYGUNN among others.
Toronto singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist AVIV, who pens D.I.Y. pop that feels universally relatable, grew up surrounded by music and learned to play piano and guitar at a young age. During the pandemic, she began writing songs in her bedroom, inspired by artists like Elliott Smith, Lorde and Radiohead, which led her to sign with Photo Finish Records in the US, and Dine Alone Records in her native Canada.
In 2022, Aviv headed on her first tour, opening for Imagine Dragons in Canada, which coincided with the release of her debut EP, 'Drowning in the Culture'. The title, which shares its name with one of the EP’s standout tracks, came from a feeling AVIV had while writing in LA the year prior, “I had a lot of unanswered questions and somehow every single song answered one of them for me,” she says.
AVIV then teamed up with Producer Robbie Lackritz (Feist, Alvvays, Peach Pit), early this year to collaborate on a new body of work. Spending time in the studio with Robbie inspired Aviv to shift her music style to a collection of songs which were recorded live with a full band. Her first single from this collection, 'Jimmy’s House' is out now.
