ARIA award-winning, Coodjinburra artist Budjerah has released his new single 'Therapy'.
Written by Grammy award-nominated Sarah Aarons and Stint, the song stresses the importance of therapy and communication in relationships. Its release comes ahead of Budjerah supporting Ed Sheeran on his Australian tour throughout February and March.
Describing the first time he heard the demo of ‘Therapy’, Budjerah says that it “hit me at the perfect time. I was going through a few things and the song really nailed how I was feeling at the time”.
“Therapy is about frustration in a relationship. It’s the thoughts and feelings that can erupt when you don’t understand each other and that can be tough to deal with. Therapy can come in many forms, but taking a step back and getting an outside perspective is something that has helped me.”
Budjerah has gained increasing recognition since his debut single ‘Missing You’ was released just over two years ago. Since then, he has released two EPs, including his self-titled debut and his 2022 release 'Conversations'. Aside from his solo ventures, Budjerah has collaborated with PNAU on ‘Stranger Love’ and MAY-A on ‘Talk’.
His successes span further than collaborations, having been awarded two ARIAs, Breakthrough artist in 2021 and Best Soul/R&B Release in 2022. He was also nominated for the best Best Single and Best New Artist at the 2023 Rolling Stone Australia Awards and “Aussie / Kiwi Legend Of The Year” at the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards. In 2022, he also performed at the AFL grand final, along with The Temper Trap, Gretta Ray, and Ngaiire.
Budjerah, along with UK singer Maisie Peters, will support Sheeran, with Budjerah opening for him. Budjerah is also due to play at The Love Festival in Melbourne and Perth on March 4th and 5th.
