Naarm-based queer artist Chloe: The Brand releases their latest single ‘Co-Star’. An exciting new track that explores themes of incompatibility and astrology. With a blend of electronic sounds and hyper-pop magic, ‘Co-Star’ is filled with catchy and relatable lyrics that speak to anyone who has ever felt that their horoscope was to blame for a failed relationship.
As Chloe explained, “'Co-Star' is about astrology and incompatibility. I wrote Co-Star about a girl I was seeing (very) casually in my first semester of Uni. I would try to justify her lack of communication- “she has a Capricorn moon!”. I couldn’t admit to myself that she just didn’t like me very much.”
Known for their introspective sound and lyricism which is perfectly depicted in ‘Co-Star’, Chloe: The Brand is reminiscent of iconic pop stars, Mallrat, King Princess and Yergurl. Produced, mixed and mastered by Samuel K Sproull (Eliza & The Delusionals, Tulliah, Japanese Wallpaper), Chloe spent a number of days with Sam at his home studio in Naarm creating the masterpiece that is ‘Co-Star’.
She continued, “I’m a big fan of hyperpop music and this definitely inspired me in the studio. I fell in love with the vocoder chorus as soon as I heard it. The glitchy-synth-sound feels so me.”
To celebrate the release of ‘Co-Star’, Chloe: The Brand has created an evening of sparkly tunes and iridescent vibes. Chloe will be performing their first headliner show live at The Workers Club in Fitzroy VIC on Thursday 11th of May where they will be showcasing an electrifying performance.
Chloe further added, “I am so excited to play my first ever headline show in May. As a queer artist, I have always looked up to femme and gender-diverse musicians. I am in the process of curating a line-up which is diverse and femme-fronted. I cannot wait to share everything I’ve been working on.”
