Dreamstruck, the independent dream pop duo from Copenhagen, are set to release their self-titled debut album on January 10th via Rough Trade. Their latest single, 'Moon', offers a glimpse into the album's exploration of love, vulnerability, and the power of connection.
The duo, comprised of longtime couple Karen Krogshøj and Jonas Struck, create a unique blend of dreamy soundscapes and raw, shoegaze-inspired guitars. Krogshøj's vocals, clear and cool, intertwine with Struck's intricate melodies, creating a sonic landscape that is both expansive and intimate.
'Moon', a duet with Mathias Bertelsen of The Entrepreneurs, delves into the complexities of a relationship, seeking hope and reconnection in moments of darkness. "It's about reaching for the moon in the darkest hour of a relationship, to find a sparkling hope and shine again, together," says Krogshøj.
The creation of Dreamstruck's music became a journey of self-discovery and deeper understanding for the couple. "To write so openly about our relationship and share my innermost thoughts with Jonas obviously sparked confrontations when the core of our conflicts was framed in our music," Krogshøj explains. "Eventually, the whole process turned out to have an almost therapeutic effect on us. Love is about communication, facing differences and difficulties, and dealing with them. I guess that’s what Dreamstruck is about: a shared declaration of love.”
Both Krogshøj and Struck bring a wealth of musical experience to Dreamstruck. Struck is an award-winning film score composer and former guitarist for the acclaimed indie band Swan Lee. Krogshøj, a lyricist and songwriter, previously played bass in the rock band Vamp Camp and has lent her vocals to several of Struck's film scores, including the Netflix series 'Ragnarok'.
With their combined talents and shared experiences, Dreamstruck have crafted an album that promises to be both deeply personal and universally resonant.
