Rising alt-R&B star Forest Claudette has released their hotly anticipated EP, 'Jupiter', a four-track exploration of love, identity, empowerment, and artistic expression. The EP is a genre-bending sonic adventure, kicking off with the moody 'Kobe Beef' and transitioning into the soulful piano ballad 'Gold'.
'Only Human', a laid-back R&B jam, celebrates self-acceptance and the rejection of gender norms. As Claudette explains, "The instrumentation helps it feel like the celebration it is." The EP concludes with 'Big Wigs', a swaggering track that grapples with the pressures of success and the search for purpose. "It's about the pressure I feel to honour the privilege of the position that I'm in," Claudette reveals.
The EP's title, 'Jupiter', is a metaphor for a safe haven for those who don't conform to traditional gender binaries. "Jupiter represents a home and safe place for all the non-binary babies to live," Claudette elaborates.
'Jupiter' follows Claudette's recent collaborations with Cosmo's Midnight and their acclaimed cover of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Can't Stop." It's the latest chapter in a burgeoning career that includes the ARIA award-winning EP 'Everything Was Green'.
Claudette, inspired by artists like Frank Ocean, Moses Sumney, and Erykah Badu, has long used music as a tool for self-discovery. With 'Jupiter', they invite listeners to join them on this personal and intergalactic journey. The EP is a testament to Claudette's unique talent and their commitment to pushing the boundaries of R&B music.
