Kaitlyn Maher - ‘Good Friend Salary’

Hailing from the suburbs of Washington, D.C., the talented Kaitlyn Maher began her musical journey at just four years old, charming the world as the youngest finalist on NBC’s America’s Got Talent. Now nineteen, Kaitlyn is continuing to captivate audiences around the world, extending her career with various roles in movies and television, and sharing stellar new singles like ‘Good Friend Salary’.

A rising star who has been featured in People magazine, on Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, and the Today Show, and headlined worldwide and at the White House, Kaitlyn’s list of accolades rivals even the most established artists. In perfect form, Kaitlyn’s new single is an impressive continuation of her talents, showcasing country-pop sound and giving us all the first glimpse of upcoming album ‘When Did We Grow Up?’ which is expected to drop in late October this year.

Speaking candidly about the new single, Kaitlyn shared, “I wrote ‘Good Friend Salary’ on the floor of my freshman dorm room in a state of total exasperation after realizing I was playing therapist for a guy I sort of liked who couldn’t have cared less about me. As someone who strives to care deeply for others, this song encapsulates my realization that healthy boundaries are absolutely crucial - you can be a kind human without sacrificing your own well-being and self-worth!”

Kaitlyn continued, “In creating ‘Good Friend Salary’, I chose to combine vulnerable lyrics chronicling my agitation with buoyant, upbeat instrumentation in an attempt to showcase the eventual growth and freedom I experienced in realizing that the whole situation wasn't really that deep in the long run. I think that’s one of the most important lessons I’ve learned growing up: live, learn, and laugh about it (and write a song about it).”

Layering infectious pop sounds with a distinct country edge, ‘Good Friend Salary’ is an impressive re-introduction to Kaitlyn as an artist, capturing her authentic style and setting the standard for things to come. Kaitlyn will be releasing her second single on October 6th, with the full album following later that same month.

Speaking about the album, Kaitlyn also shared, “The remainder of the songs on my upcoming album were birthed and recorded during the six months following ‘Good Friend Salary’s conception, fueled by a similar vision to honestly and introspectively convey a wide range of emotions, resonate with and inspire others, and capture and calm my own chaotic mind.”
