Crooked Flower – ‘Tunnel of Light’

Recently we were lucky enough to find Crooked Flower, a Californian troupe of psych-rockers that have been receiving a fervour of positive press recently. It took just one listen of ‘Go Back Go Back’, to get us hooked, and soon after we quickly went through the band’s back-catalogue devouring every track we could find.

Formed sometime in 2013, the band began when guitarist Dan Ingberman and bassist Daniel Erik started recording in Berkeley, CA. Soon after, they recruited drummer Patrick Shields, vocalist Angelina Dang, guitarist Drew Southern, and pianist Will Kyriazis to make one of the most intriguing and exciting acts in music. Bringing their unique blend of heavy bass, rolling percussion, melodic guitar, and Angela’s distinct RnB vocals to the fore, Crooked Flower have self-released two albums so far, each offering a vibrant and genre-bending glimpse into their world.

One of their most impressive recent releases comes in the form of ‘Tunnel of Light’, a near four-minute epic that perfectly encapsulates their sound and energy. Available to stream below via Spotify, ‘Tunnel of Light’ is instantly impressive, combining some rolling base tones with an indelible wall of sound formed from distorted guitars, pulsating percussion, and Angela’s soaring vocals.

One of the four indelible tracks that make up their ‘Darkness and Light’ release, ‘Tunnel of Light’ is a track that you simple have to hear.

A band whose sole focus is their sound, you can buy all Crooked Flower’s release directly from their website for whatever price you choose, so get some now!
