Nyki Lindsay King, a Montreal-based solo artist, has recently released his latest stirring single, 'Running Out of Time'. Known for his unique blend of funk, soul, R&B, and reggae, Nyki's music is always infused with a powerful message. This new track is no exception, delving into the harsh realities of a world grappling with corruption and urging listeners to take action before it's too late.
Nyki's musical journey began at the tender age of seven when his father, Eric George Lindsay, first introduced him to the stage. Inspired by musical icons like Eddie Vedder, Kurt Cobain, and Chester Bennington, Nyki has honed his skills as a guitarist and songwriter, crafting music that resonates with raw emotion and social commentary. He's graced the stages of renowned venues like Hard Rock Cafe, Club Soda, and Kola Note, even playing at Jail House Rock, a venue once graced by the legendary Nirvana.
'Running Out of Time' was recorded in Montreal with engineer Bobby John, with Nyki directing all aspects of the production. Drawing inspiration from real-world events, Nyki's lyrics paint a vivid picture of society's current state. "The single 'Running Out of Time' is a song about how corrupted the world really is," says Nyki. "We better change something because we are running out of time. I describe the fall of society and freedom due to too many people following the crowd in this life cycle instead of Jesus Christ."
Nyki's life has been a tapestry of diverse experiences, from a childhood marked by poverty and foster care to a struggle with addiction that lasted three decades. Now thirteen years sober, he attributes his recovery to faith and grace. His music reflects these experiences, offering a raw and honest portrayal of the human condition. "I guess at this point in my life looking back… I was raised really poor and sometimes went to elementary school with no lunch on top of being a foster child in several homes," Nyki reflects. "In my teens, I got into alcohol and drugs and was severely addicted for 30 years… by the help of God and grace I'm sober 13 years and free from no longer being out of control."
With its thought-provoking lyrics and compelling sound, 'Running Out of Time' promises to be a poignant reflection on society's challenges and a call to action for those who believe in a better world. In Nyki's own words, "God Wins. If you see something say something. Love is the greatest gift of all. The World is a Big Canvas, not everyone gets to paint their colours on it."
