Pavo Cadaver Unveils Quirky Satirical Single 'Grow A Boyfriend'

Pavo Cadaver, the Boston-based singer and songwriter, has just dropped their latest single, 'Grow A Boyfriend', a satirical exploration of modern relationships with a playful 90s grunge meets 80s synth vibe.

Pavo, who cites influences ranging from Lady Gaga and Paramore to Bjork and Kate Bush, has crafted a track that is both catchy and thought-provoking. 'Grow A Boyfriend' takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the desire for romantic companionship, imagining a world where partners can be cultivated rather than found.

"I've always used music as a way to tell stories," explains Pavo. "This song just happens to be a very silly one!" But beneath the playful surface lies a deeper commentary on emotional immaturity and the challenges of commitment in today's world. The song's protagonist, overwhelmed by the complexities of real relationships, opts for the seemingly easier route of growing a boyfriend, highlighting a consumerist approach to love.

The track, produced in collaboration with Claudia Mills (BITTERS), showcases Cadaver's talent for blending genres and crafting unique sonic landscapes. Despite being recorded in a makeshift bedroom setup, the single boasts a polished sound thanks to the mixing and mastering skills of Loucas Bretz and Dan Konopka (drummer for OK Go).

An interesting tid-bit about the song's production is the addition of a heavily autotuned post-chorus. This element wasn't originally planned but came about when Mills sent Pavo a demo with the effect added on a whim. Pavo was so taken with it that they penned new lyrics for the section, breathing new life into the three-year-old song.

While Pavo is currently the sole driving force behind their music, they have been branching out into collaborative songwriting with other pop artists. Fans can even catch Pavo's background vocals on the Bandcamp exclusive release 'How to Succeed 101' by the wonderful Drew Allway.

With plans to start playing local shows in Boston soon, Pavo Cadaver is definitely an artist to watch. 'Grow A Boyfriend' is a promising taste of what's to come from this innovative and genre-bending musician.
