A South African artist with a penchant for vibrant R&B sounds, Lubanzi Mnqobi Ngcobo is an artist making waves. Better known by his stage name Qobi, Lubanzi grew up in the suburbs of Pinetown, Queensburgh where he first discovered his love of music. After starting to write music in the sixth grade, he’s pushed to make his mark as a producer, artist, and innovator.

The latest in an impressive string of releases from Qobi, ‘FIRST LOVE’ sees the young artist continuing to impress, delivering another touching song about heartbreak, love, and raw human emotion. Filled with passionate sounds that blend the twin worlds of dizzying alt-pop and sensual R&B, the new single is as immersive as it is captivating, creating a direct line between artist and listener that will have you enraptured.

Speaking openly about the new track and his inspiration, Qobi explained, “‘FIRST LOVE is a song about the remembrance of my first love as well as how it affected me as it ended abruptly.”

Looking back, Qobi’s passion for music comes directly from his mother who was a singer in her church and had a musical family around her. Inspired by his mother’s passion, Qobi developed his own talents and aspirations, and to this date, he’s pushing to become the biggest artist that South Africa has ever seen.

With over 1,600 streams on Spotify already, ‘FIRST LOVE’ has become a breakthrough release for Qobi, and it’s only getting better.
