Shieldsy – ‘It's the Boss On The Phone’

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been championing the upcoming release of Shieldsy’s new EP, and for a very good reason. A homegrown release that blurs the lines between rock, rap, and comedy, the new EP is everything we’ve come to love about the ‘teller of tales and singer of songs’, and best of all, it’s available right now.

A unique talent in his own right, Shieldsy has risen to prominence throughout Australia for his satirical and wonderfully irreverent pop-punk anthems. Capturing an honest slice of everyday life, along with the more absurdist moments that keep us all going, Shieldsy’s music has led him to become something of a local legend, earning spots in the news, online, and even the Australian National Busking Championships, where he’ll be competing in the National Final this November.

Musically, the new EP is a toe-tapping, thrill-seeking good time, one that delivers six original tracks that all shine with Shieldsy’s heart, soul, and passion for life. Built on lead single and title ‘It’s The Boss on the Phone’, the new release is bold, brilliant, and undeniably fun. As well as being a powerhouse new release, it’s also Shieldsy’s first release with a live drummer, adding a new layer of realism to every cut, or as Shieldsy explained, “no sequencing of any sampled sounds, everything heard will be human hands on strings and sticks, the way rock n roll should be!”

Featuring session drummer Adam Church (who has previously worked with Shannon Noll, Lachy Doley, Glenn Hughes and others), the new EP delivers six triumphant songs that are “more fun than a barrel of monkeys, but without the smell!”

Available now on all major platforms, ‘It’s the Boss On The Phone’ is arguably Shieldsy’s best release so far, and an essential listening experience for anyone who is a fan of rollicking rock tunes, primal drumbeats, howling vocals, and bold, tongue-in-cheek lyrics.
