Making a successful debut in 2022, Melbourne-based alt-rock group Sunday Honey have continued to build on an impressive run of early releases, with the new single, ‘Silver Lining’.
Honeyed vocals and melodies meet introspective and clever lyricism on ‘Silver Lining’, with Sunday Honey setting up a musical space that is at both times inviting and immersive.
A track that highlights the strong creative connection and dynamic between the four piece, ‘Silver Lining’ makes for a great entry point for newcomers and for those Sunday Honey fans who have been with the band since the beginning, this is a fitting moment of evolution. Conceptualised by vocalist and drummer Fox DeRoche during his travels through Europe, ‘Silver Lining’ was brought back to the band in Melbourne, where it was fleshed out into its final form.
Produced and mixed by DeRoche and mastered by Steve Smart (Studios 301), ‘Silver Lining’ is perfect, musically, for fans of artists including Teenage Dads, Ocean Alley and more. As the first hint of the band’s new chapter heading into the second half of 2023, ‘Silver Lining’ provides further insight into Sunday Honey’s continued development as a group.
Speaking of the single, the band explained, “It’s a story about a woman losing herself in the grips of society and going down the path of substance abuse. We are all strong advocates for mental health, so we felt this song resonated a lot with us. We’ve written a lot of our songs about mental health and substance abuse.”
“The bare bones of it was written in Paris by Fox when he was travelling Europe, and then once he was back we all added our own unique flair to it until it was at a spot which we all loved.”
