Based in London, but proudly made in Leeds, Ten Hands High have evolved drastically since their inception in 2019. Armed with a brilliant sound that blends a fine maelstrom of genres, they've been taking over the UK with some stellar live shows and ever more impressive release.
Starting in classic indie rock roots, they now explore the boundaries of their genre, incorporating elements of R&B, hip-hop and alt-pop into a hybrid indie sound that focuses on groove and atmosphere. Merging the sound of indie summer with a comical concept, they're new single is a joy to hear, and one that is sure to make them known all across the globe.
Titled 'Sunkissed', it's the latest from the unsigned indie band, written from the perspective of a theatrical, ludicrous character who’s fallen in too deep, too quickly. Through the track, Ten Hands High take the listener on a humourous journey from bitterness to hopeless desperation.
The punchy verse grooves give way to dance-laden choruses and an ironically face-melting solo that personifies the character’s over dramatic nature, creating a tongue-in-cheek anthem made for the summer.
Jack Saunders of BBC Radio 1 called their debut EP’s lead single Sweet – “euphoric”, and their most recent single, ‘I Don’t Need A Lobster’ received high praise on Twitter from Trainspotting star and indie music guru, Robert Carlyle. The band have also been played on BBC Introducing: The South, 6Music’s BBC Introducing Mixtape and Radio X’s X-Posure, as well as being featured on playlists like Spotify’s Students Union and Amazon’s Fresh Indie.
To date, the band have consistently sold out headline shows in their two hometowns and on May 1st 2022, played their biggest headline show yet at a sold out Omeara in London.
