Hard hitting alt-rock with dark grunge undertones, Bards channel the likes of Wolf Alice, English Teacher and Sonic Youth into their sound. A band on the cusp of making it big, they're championing the release of upcoming single 'Omega', and to do our part, we're taking a look back at one of their best cuts to date, 'Affectonate Waves'.
Released earlier this year, 'Affectionate Waves' hits with purpose, creating a brilliant alt-rock sound that hits hard and then keeps on hitting. Framed through caustic guitar and thunderous percussion, the band create a dynamic aural experience, pushing lines like "you take me in affectionate waves", while all around the instrumentals crash and clatter.
Known for their raucous live shows, Bards are as energetic as they are emotive. This is no secret to Manchester, where the band have drawn crowds to Night & Day, Band on the Wall and a sold out show at Gullivers. Bards crowds always match the bands energy creating a live experience that brings them back.
Their upcoming single 'Omega' is set to be their most chaotic yet, not forgetting the bands statement riffs, killer lead vocals and bone shaking bass tones. Created in the depths of Covid, the single is the result of three musical ideas forged in the locked down homes of different members of the band. This was the first song Bards completed when re-united resulting in a cathartic, chaotic and cataclysmic track that captures those feelings of release.
Fresh from their summer single 'Affectionate Waves', and a packed out release party 'Omega’ will be promoted by a headline show at YES basement Manchester on the 6th November. This will be the latest single in the lead up to their E.P. and UK tour planned for February 2023.
