Thank You Thank You Return With New Single 'Watching The Cyclones'

Thank You Thank You, the musical project of Tyler Bussey, has re-emerged with a brand new single, 'Watching The Cyclones', following a three-year hiatus. The track, a result of Bussey's new collaboration with Philadelphia producer Kevin Basko, blends melancholic lyrics with an upbeat, summery sound.

'Watching The Cyclones' was born during the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, with its central chord progression coming first and the lyrics, inspired by a past romance, following much later. The song explores the cyclical nature of life, love, and loss, as the narrator questions, "How many times more will love go wrong / before I answer for it?"

Musically, the track is reminiscent of a sunny day, evoking fond memories and juxtaposing the melancholy lyrics with an uplifting melody. Bussey's vocals are layered over acoustic guitar, drums, bass, pedal steel, and baritone guitar, with Emily Moales contributing vocal harmonies.

"The song paints a lovely picture precisely because that's why loss stings in the first place: because something that was once so sweet is gone for good," explains Bussey.

'Watching The Cyclones' concludes on an ambiguous note, leaving the question of whether the narrator feels lucky to have experienced love at all unanswered. This musical question mark perfectly encapsulates the song's bittersweet nature.

The single is the first taste of new music from Thank You Thank You since 2021 and marks a new chapter for the project. With more releases planned for the fall via Ruination Records, fans can anticipate further sonic explorations from this prolific artist.
