Formed in the winter of 2019, The Jeebs have spent the past few years developing a unique musical style, one that combines elements of blues, alternative, and psychedelic rock into a kaleidoscopic and wonderfully original sound. The talented four-piece of Zack Cooper, Sean Gomez, Eric Johnson, and Danny Ainley, the band have recently released their new single, ‘Be True’, and it’s like nothing you would have heard before.
Released only recently, ‘Be True’ was shaped from a series of rough demos that the band recorded in their DIY practice space, hidden away in West Lafayette, Indiana. Fully mixed, mastered, and ready for commercial release, it’s a standout single for the band, one that perfectly illustrates their expansive, often eclectic rock sound.
Filled with tempered percussion and shimmering, almost ‘60s melodies that are perfectly backed by some complex vocal harmonies, ‘Be True’ begins with some stripped back, shoegaze sounds, building itself from a cascade of scattered sounds that arrange themselves into a perfect, rustic sound. As the song progresses, it delves into heavier, grunge aesthetics and shifting rock anthemics, flowing effortlessly through an evolving six-minute run that shines with shades of The Doors, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, and Ty Segall.
Marked as the band’s first “studio-recorded, commercial-quality single”, ‘Be True’ has all the hallmarks of an independent epic, and the band should be incredibly proud of what they’ve created. You can stream the new single below on Spotify.
Along with the release of ‘Be Ture’, The Jeebs are also teasing the upcoming release of a full, self-titled EP that is planned to follow in February of 2022, and they’re also working hard with Plaid Dog Recording to bring new music to light. You can help support the recording of their debut album and score some exciting merch, including copies of the upcoming album, shirts, posters, and the opportunity to help the band record the album as an executive producer.
