The New Album From MedusaMoon, ‘LuckyThirteen’ Cuts Deeper Than Ever

MedusaMoon, a neurodiverse artist, has recently released her latest album, ‘LuckyThirteen’, carving out a unique space with her own brand of Gothic Folk. A testament to her unflinching and fiercely honest approach to music, the new album offers a raw and intimate glimpse into the complexities of human experience. You can forget glossy production and vibrant pop hooks, this record is about authentic emotion and real moments laid bare for the world to see.

As MedusaMoon explains, her music is a direct reflection of "the reality of existence", diving into the "pain, hurt, sorrow and heartache of love and life" to craft something relatable and real. It's a journey through personal trials and the impact of others, translated into haunting melodies and evocative lyrics. The album's ten tracks are a masterclass in stripped-back sincerity. In true form, ‘LuckyThirteen’ doesn't hide behind layers of studio trickery; instead, it relies on hushed atmospheres and gently tempered synths, allowing MedusaMoon's vocals to take centre stage.

Her journey into music began with poetry, a childhood outlet for feelings that were otherwise impossible to articulate. "I started writing poetry from a young age as a form of self-expression as I could never find the words to express myself unless they were written down," she reveals. "Suddenly writing poetry became my solace and also a form of escapism into a world that made sense as the world I was living in did not make any sense."

'LuckyThirteen' is a beguiling release, one that resonates with anyone who's faced the challenges of life and love. It's a reminder that beauty can be found in vulnerability, and that honest expression is the most powerful form of art.

MedusaMoon's eclectic musical influences, ranging from classical giants like Beethoven to metal legends like Slayer, and folk heroes such as Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, create a fascinating sonic tapestry. She also cites Tori Amos, Lana Del Rey, and Damien Rice as key inspirations. The result is a sound that’s both familiar and utterly unique.

She also acknowledges the crucial role of her producer, Jon Tannock. "My producer Jon Tannock deserves some credit as I could not have produced and released these albums. Together we have produced and released three albums in two months and we are in the middle of the third."
