A refreshingly unique and wonderfully innovative band from Austin, Texas, The Unlimited Stars have been captivating listeners since September when they dropped their acclaimed debut EP, ‘Your Sun’. A released filled to the brim with diverse sounds, powerful dynamics, and compelling, insistent grooves, it’s been burning brightly on Spotify for months now, and soon as we heard it, we couldn’t wait to help shine a spotlight firmly upon it.
Built from the undeniable talents of Bre, Mick, Robert, David, and Rusty, ‘Your Sun’ lands as a perfect blend of melodic, indie-rock vibes and sharp, philosophical lyrics, hitting hard and then relentlessly expanding until all other light and sound are eclipsed.
From the very first moments of opening track ‘Muriel’, the band stitch together a gritty, yet melodic punk rock sound that leans on everything from heavy guitar riffs to haunting whale sounds. In second cut ‘White Horse’, the band deliver a hybrid sound that touches on rustic country and sharp, psychedelic rock, while elsewhere on the album, ‘Any Way’ hits as a caustic rock anthem and their semi-eponymous ‘Unlimited Stars’ pushes into more introspective territories, contrasts lyrics about harsh realities and ongoing struggles with more uplifting chords. In the end, the final track of ‘Galileo’ really says it all, with the band coming into their own for a dynamic, shifting track that revels in haunting vocals, atmospheric refrains, and an unyielding sense of honesty.
Recorded and mixed by Taylor Tatsch (AudioStyles Recording Studios, Dallas/Austin, TX) and mastered by Carl Saff (Chicago, IL), the EP is a true testament to the band’s abilities, and the fact they’ve been able to create such an engaging release, while simultaneously staying true to their roots is a bold and brilliant statement.
You can find ‘Your Sun’ now on Spotify and all major streaming services, as well as on their website where it’s available for purchase and streaming.
Currently unsigned and working on additional tracks and music videos, The Unlimited Stars might just be one of Texas’ best-kept secrets, but with songs as good as these, it won’t stay that way for long.
