A talented avant-garde singer-songwriter who has taken over L.A. with their shifting indie sounds, Torii Wolf has just revealed a stunning new single in the form of ‘Cave Dweller’. Recorded with Swimm, the new single sees Torii fusing indie, dance, and dark intimate tones to create a unique, intoxicating, and thoroughly enjoyable work of art.
Throughout their fifteen-year career, Torii has dived into everyone possible genre, blending elements of every possible genre to create a unique tapestry of sounds that continues to impress to this day. Complete with a sense of intimacy that immediately captivates their listeners, there’s a sense of magic to everything that Torii produces, and ‘Cave Dweller’ is no different.
In true style, Torii wants their music to be about breaking down preconceived notions, with no pigeonholing and no labels; “I want to use my music to build a safe space for people to feel”, they explained, and when it comes to ‘Cave Dweller’, they’ve done just that. An enigmatic release that shifts between styles and creates its own vivid world, it’s the very definition of essential new listening.
Of the track, Torii explained; “This song is inspired by the person living peacefully in the cave on the mountain with all of the answers. I have always wanted to sing with Swimm on a record. Swimm's sound feels a lot like how I feel on the inside. This song is the story of two people feeling deep love for one another and the fragile and vulnerable feeling of relying on one another to show up emotionally and stay close unconditionally.”
After earning praise from outlets like Billboard, Complex, okayplayer, and Stereogum, and working with some of the industry’s top talents like DJ Premier, Mike Zombie (the producer of Drake’s “Started From The Bottom”), and Macklemore, Torii has proven their artistic worth beyond any shadow of a doubt, and ‘Cave Dweller’ is just more irrefutable proof of their talents.
