venbee, is the rising 23 year old artist and songwriter who has been having a breakout twelve months with her infectious mix of visceral drum and bass and raw honest lyrics. From dropping her viral debut ‘low down’ to ‘messy in heaven’ (Certified ARIA Platinum, + spent 13 weeks in the UK Top 10), on to ‘gutter’ and ‘die young’, all four of venbee’s singles have entered the Top 100 on release, proving she is no one hit wonder.
Today, venbee releases her debut mixtape 'Zero Experience'. From the stripped back vibes of ‘ME4’, ‘mona lisa’ and ‘ana’ emphasising venbee’s delicately nuanced vocals, alongside latest D&B banger, ‘rampage’, 'Zero Experience' deftly displays her versatility as a songwriter and artist. All four previous singles, including those with Goddard, Whyjay & Litek, and Rudimental, along with her collaboration with Hybrid Minds make up the final mixtape.
Speaking of the release, venbee says, ”'Zero Experience' has been over a year and a half in the making. I entitled it Zero Experience to encapsulate what I discuss in the tracks. You know, nobody has any idea what is going on, especially growing up and I wanted people to feel reassured that I too am winging it and figuring it out as I go just the same. The tape is a super honest take on growing up and I discuss real raw experiences which I have gone through. I am really excited for people to finally hear it and hopefully resonate and enjoy!”
After a busy live schedule in 2023, with key performances at SXSW, The Great Escape, Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Later With Jools Holland, Glastonbury and Reading, venbee recently made her first ever trip down under for Listen Out. During her time in Australia, venbee stepped into the triple j studio’s for her debut Like A Version, putting the drum n bass flavour on Justin Bieber’s ‘Sorry’ alongside a performance of her Hottest 100 charting single, ‘messy in heaven’.
Hailing from Kent, venbee is a Chatham girl through and through, and as far from pretentious as you can get: her online presence is a breath of fresh air in the highly curated social world.
