A Berlin-based music producer, film composer, multi-instrumentalist, and DJ, Whyen has been making music ever since he was young. After starting to learn the piano at the young age of six, he moved on to producing music in his early teens, and ever since then, he’s been hooked by the spell. After studying music production in Berlin, composing various scores for films, and finding his feet in his band and underground project, Unbox Me!, Whyen kicked out on his own, creating a new project that would serve all his creative whims.
Beginning four years ago, the Whyen moniker is where he can explore his more experimental and EDM driven sounds, offering a deft slice of Future Bass brilliance that is shaped by the likes of Flume, Sam Gellaitry, Ramzoid, Two Feet, Mr Carmack, Mura Masa, Hudson Mohawke. While the project’s early roots stayed firmly within the realm of instrumental pieces, Whyen has since branched out to feature an expansive roster of artists, singers, rappers, and more, cultivating a sound that is as engaging and entertaining as it is triumphant.
One such talent, is the brilliant Juli-Ane, a stellar vocalist and lyricist, who has risen to prominence as the frontwoman for Warsaw Electric. A stunning singer who is always on the hunt for a new challenge, Juli-Ane began recording with various artists and bands, studying music in the United States and winning over the hearts of audiences all across the globe. With a unique voice that can dig deep and touch every listener`s soul, she has become an outstanding performer and the centrepiece for Whyen’s latest release.
Titled ‘Higher’, the two-track release is a powerful illustration of what both artists can create, offering a lavish, ensnaring sound that revels in Future Bass aesthetics and sharp, emotive tones. Built from two original compositions that Whyen wrote and produced, and featuring lyrics and vocals from Juli-Ane, ‘Higher’ is a perfect combination of two artists’ talents and an unmissable release for all EDM fans.
Available now on all major platforms, ‘Higher’ is the first glimpse into Whyen and Juli-Ane’s creative partnership, and with more tracks already in the making, it’s promising to be a big year for future bass fans.
