Windows share their bright and playful new EP ‘Raindrops On The Open Road’

A brilliant new band rising from Los Angeles' music scene, Windows are proving that the city's well of creativity hasn't yet run dry. Their latest EP, 'Raindrops On The Open Road' showcases a unique sonic perspective that both harks back to a golden age and pushes forward into fresh territory.

At the helm of Windows is Matteo Arias, known for his work with Golden Animals and Reverberation Records. His Mexican-American background infuses a cultural vibrancy into the band's take on the West Coast psych-pop and rock tradition. Windows' music has an immediately catchy quality, boasting the kind of hooks that linger in your mind long after the music fades. The new EP is a perfect encapsulation of this quality, cutting you to the quick in a brilliant flurry of elevated alt-rock sounds.

'Wanted to Know' starts the EP on a mesmerizing note, with warm guitar lines washing over the listener and setting the stage. 'Sr89' follows, effortlessly blending sweet power-pop with a defiant edge, while the centerpiece of the EP, 'Raindrops', shimmers with pure 70s-influenced California psych-pop. Jangly guitar and smooth vocal harmonies meld to create a feeling of joyous abandon, while lyrics like "Just let the clouds roll by," shine throughout.

On the backend of the EP, closing tracks ‘Don’t Stare at the Sun’ and 'Green Lagoon' hit with instant appeal, with the opening guitar riff bleeding into sleazy 60s surf-rock and alt-pop at the same time, resulting in an enticing end to the band's shimmering journey.

'Raindrops On The Open Road' is a journey worth taking. Windows' music feels instantly familiar, and yet wholly exciting. It's the perfect soundtrack for cruising down a coastal highway, leaving worries behind as the music fills your ears and the windows roll down.
