Acclaimed Australian singer-songwriter, Xavier Rudd, releases his new single ‘Road Trippin'' via Salt.X Records. The track is Xavier at his very best; charming, meditative and beautifully nonchalant, while reflecting on a four-month family road trip throughout parts of rural Australia.
The past year and a half has been highly eventful for Xavier Rudd, with the release of his critically acclaimed tenth studio album, Jan Juc Moon. He also just wrapped up his second European tour in that time, having made stops at Glastonbury, Pinkpop and Rock Werchter festivals along the way.
To add to the events of the last eighteen-months, Xavier was recently awarded the Australasian Performing Right Association Award (APRA Award) for Most Performed Blues & Roots Work for his breathtaking single ‘We Deserve To Dream’, before also taking out the 2023 international Environmental Music Prize. Xavier won the publicly voted award for his 2021 single ‘Stoney Creek’, over entries from the likes of Tash Sultana, Midnight Oil, Ziggy Alberts and more.
Now, Xavier releases his brand new single ‘Road Trippin’’. On the track, he says, “Road Trippin was written on a trip that we did a few years ago. We bought an old troopy in Perth and headed north up to the top end across the Kimberley, down through the centre and back to the east. Australia is powerful, every trip is different, every trip is magical, this was one of them.”
Looking back over Xavier Rudd’s stunning career, one could easily ask what is possibly left to achieve. Already one of Australian music’s all-time greats, he has touched people’s lives worldwide. He has earned accolades of every kind, Gold and Platinum certification, multiple ARIA nominations, an APRA music industry award, and legions of fans who love him with an inextinguishable passion. Yet, with each new release, Xavier Rudd continues to surpass expectation and produce his finest work to date.
Beginning his career with 2002’s definitive To Let, Xavier Rudd put his message out into the world and was answered immediately. Fans from all over the globe were drawn to the distinctly Australian-looking musician, activist and surfer. It was the start of a journey that would span over 20 years (and counting); taking Xavier to almost every continent on the planet where he has connected with people from all cultures and walks of life. There are no borders that apply to Xavier Rudd’s music.
