Earth to Josh Unveils Debut Album 'Josh to Earth' and Explores Echoes of Past Love

Earth to Josh has revealed his debut album, 'Josh to Earth', a release that marks the culmination of five years of dedicated work, showcasing his unique blend of psychedelic pop and rock. The album is preceded by the release of his latest single, 'All My Love', a captivating track that delves into the lingering remnants of a past romance.

"'Josh to Earth' has been a long time in the making," Earth to Josh explains. "It's been a journey with its ups and downs, and it feels surreal to finally see it completed. Each song represents a different chapter from the past five years."

To celebrate the release, Earth to Josh was kind enough to walk us through some of the highlights of the album, touching on the themes and experiences beneath the record.

The album, 'Josh to Earth', promises a diverse sonic landscape. From the energetic opener 'Alive', designed to grab the listener's attention, to the introspective 'In The Air', which Kent describes as a song written to lift his own spirits - "I was actually in a really bad mood when I first started making this song, and I used it to basically cheer myself up and to have a bit of hope."

'Run' tackles societal expectations with its thought-provoking lyrics, while 'Bring Me Down' highlights Kent's experimental approach to songwriting. "I often feel like I write the best songs when I have no idea what I’m doing," he says, "because it forces me to write purely with feel."

A standout track, 'Free to Think', is the oldest song on the album and holds a special place in Josh's heart. He describes it as having a "classic sound" that immediately resonated with him - "This one is definitely my favourite off the record, and it’s actually the oldest song too being almost 4 years old now. I just love how classic it sounds, I have no idea what radio frequency my head was tuned into that day but I immediately knew it was something."

The album also touches on themes of perception and truth in 'Trust Your Eyes', where Kent encourages listeners to form their own judgements rather than relying on external sources. 'I Tried to Love Her' draws inspiration from a personal experience, while 'Lost in Time' explores the disorienting feeling of having one's reality shattered. Josh shared, "It’s that disassociated state you find yourself in when everything you thought was true turns out to be a lie, and you keep trying to figure out what’s real."

The album concludes with 'Forget, Believe', a message of hope and self-belief. "It's a concluding thought that everything is going to work out the way it’s supposed to," Josh explains. "To forget my worries and just to believe in myself."

'All My Love', the third single from the album, is an ethereal dream-pop ballad reminiscent of early Coldplay. Recorded in his home studio in Lismore, NSW, the song showcases Josh Kent's distinctive musical style, blending psychedelic influences with intimate introspection.

"It's funny how music can bring up feelings you’ve repressed for years," he shares. "This song was that for me. It hurts, but it’s still beautiful to relive those memories and experience those deep emotions again."

With its introspective lyrics, captivating melodies, and diverse soundscapes, 'Josh to Earth' promises to be a compelling debut from an artist with a unique vision. Earth to Josh is set to embark on a series of live shows to support the album's release, bringing his music to life on stage and creating immersive experiences for fans.
