Multi-platinum, ARIA award-winning artist Illy has just released his seventh studio album, 'Good Life'. The album features 14 tracks, including the recent singles 'Stubborn', the title track 'Good Life' (co-written with DMA's Johnny Took), and the new single 'Kids' featuring Latin superstar Sofia Reyes.
Illy worked with a number of top producers and writers on the album, including Xavier Dunn, Kuren, Tones And I, Hevenshe, and Jungleboi. 'Good Life' blends hip-hop, pop, and electronic sounds, creating a unique and genre-defying sound that's sure to please fans. The album explores a range of emotions, from vulnerability to euphoria, but always returns to its central theme: overcoming obstacles and finding the good life.
Illy describes the album as "coming from the most fully formed Illy, the artist, to date. Some of the most intense moments and emotions of my life, good and bad, happened while making this album. How can I not love every single song on it?! I fought for each of them, sometimes for years, sometimes when outvoted, and sometimes with myself, all over the world, with the help of a lot of great people. It's so fitting that after all that time, heart and soul, I'm left with 'Good Life' as a reminder of it."
The album was created during the pandemic, a time when Illy had to rediscover his path as an artist. Unable to tour or connect with fans, he experienced a full spectrum of emotions, from anger and disappointment to grief for the momentum lost by the music industry.
The new single 'Kids' is a catchy tune about growing up, featuring guest vocals by Sofia Reyes. Illy explains, "The world can always seem, particularly when you are younger, that every fight will define you; every speed bump is insurmountable and every problem is going to be the end of the world. It rarely is, if ever. This is about the perspective you find, having gone through it."
To celebrate the release of 'Good Life', Illy is hosting album launch pop-ups where fans can meet him and buy merchandise. He'll be at Lord Gladstone in Sydney, PlayZone in Melbourne, and Su Casa Rooftop in Brisbane.
Illy will also embark on a headline Australian tour in March and April 2025.
