Midnight Pool Party Make a Splash with New Single 'Boys Like You'

Australian dance duo Midnight Pool Party have just dropped their third single of 2024, and it's a certified banger. 'Boys Like You' is an electrifying fusion of disco, dance, and R&B with a sprinkle of K-pop magic. This track takes their signature sound to the next level, blending infectious grooves with playful yet introspective lyrics.

"This is our third single for 2024, and we wanted to try something different from our last two releases," says Darren Morilla, one half of Midnight Pool Party. "We aimed for a song that could make people dance but also wanted to explore new musical influences, blending a Pop/R&B vibe with K-pop elements while maintaining our unique MPP sound."

'Boys Like You' tells a tale of flirtation and the exciting tension of early attraction. The lyrics capture the rollercoaster of emotions that come with new romance – the confidence of playing it cool mixed with the vulnerability of falling head over heels. "It's meant to be fun because courtship and those early days of getting to know someone can be thrilling," Darren explains. "I wanted the song to reflect that sense of playful back-and-forth."

Interestingly, Darren initially hesitated to finish 'Boys Like You' because of its personal storyline. "The song is about a boy crushing on another boy, and I worried it might limit our audience. But the fact that I even stopped to think about it felt ridiculous," Darren reflects. "Love and attraction are universal feelings, and anyone can relate to the emotions in the song."

With its catchy beats, infectious melodies, and authentic storytelling, 'Boys Like You' invites everyone to hit the dance floor, embrace the feels, and celebrate the joy of connection. Midnight Pool Party continue to evolve their sound while staying true to their message of inclusivity and self-expression. So crank up the volume and let 'Boys Like You' sweep you away on a wave of pure pop perfection.
