Sydney-based indie pop trio PEPTALK have just released their latest single, 'Blind', a collaboration with singer and actor Keiynan Lonsdale. The track is a smooth, soulful exploration of the difficulties of leaving a toxic relationship, even when it seems obvious to everyone else that you should.
PEPTALK, composed of Jay-Lee, Lara, and Phoebe, are a proudly queer, female, and self-produced band. They met Lonsdale at a songwriting camp curated by Troye Sivan, and quickly realised they shared a common experience: watching loved ones struggle to leave unhealthy relationships.
"We didn't want to glorify toxic behaviour," the band explained, "but we did want to recognise that leaving is beyond difficult, especially when the reasons you've stayed aren't obvious to everyone."
'Blind' perfectly captures the overthinking and emotional turmoil that comes with such a decision. Lonsdale's soulful vocals blend seamlessly with PEPTALK's signature indie pop sound, creating a track that is both catchy and emotionally resonant. The song blends R&B and pop influences, resulting in a sound that is both familiar and fresh.
The single has already been praised for its radio-friendly sound and the undeniable talent of the artists involved. 'Blind' has all the makings of a chart-topping hit, with its vibrant instrumental, catchy hook, and strong vocals. It's a song that is sure to resonate with anyone who has ever struggled to leave a difficult situation.
PEPTALK are no strangers to success. They have recently showcased at BIGSOUND and School Night Sydney, and even won a "Recording and Promotions" grant through CreateNSW. Their last single, a collaboration with Montaigne, was featured in Rolling Stone. With 'Blind', PEPTALK continue to prove themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the Australian music scene.
