Ex-Chats guitarist Josh 'Pricey' Price has unleashed his latest track, 'Bastards Never Change', a high-energy rock anthem with a gritty edge and a chorus that'll stick in your head for days. The single comes hot on the heels of a busy period for Pricey, who has been tearing up stages across Australia alongside bands like The Screaming Jets, The Bennies, and Gooch Palms.
It was during his recent tour with The Screaming Jets that the inspiration for 'Bastards Never Change' struck. "As we travelled from venue to venue, I found myself gazing out the bus window when I noticed a homeless man holding a cup," Pricey recalls. "In that moment, I didn’t just see him. I saw my reflection."
This encounter sparked a profound realisation for the musician. "It struck me how lucky I am to be living my dream, touring with a rock band, having fun, and doing what I love," he explains. The song, however, isn't about the man with the cup; it's about Pricey's own journey and an appreciation for the opportunities he's been given. "‘Bastards Never Change’ is my way of expressing gratitude and resilience, inviting listeners to reflect on their own journeys.”
Pricey first burst onto the music scene as a founding member and guitarist of The Chats, a band that achieved international acclaim in the late 2010s. During his time with The Chats, he shared stages with iconic acts like Iggy Pop, Queens Of The Stone Age, and The Offspring. Since embarking on his solo career in 2022, Pricey has continued to impress, releasing his debut album "On The Job" and a string of successful singles.
With over 250,000 streams across his discography, including 100,000 for his 2022 single 'Big Sky', Pricey has garnered praise from both fans and industry insiders. To celebrate the release of 'Bastards Never Change', he'll be playing three shows in New South Wales starting this week. Looking ahead, Pricey is set to support the legendary US band Wheatus on their Australian tour in January and February next year. It's clear that this talented musician is just getting started, and we can expect to hear a lot more from him in the future.
