Jet City Sports Club Drop Energetic New Single 'Mini Skirt'

Sydney indie rockers Jet City Sports Club are back with a bang, dropping their vibrant new single 'Mini Skirt'. This latest offering is a catchy and emotive track that sees the band explore themes of self-acceptance and navigating the pressures of growing up.

Recorded at Fletcher Matthews' Glebe studio (known for his work with Trophy Eyes and Dear Seattle), 'Mini Skirt' draws inspiration from artists like The Cure, Holly Humberstone, and The Beaches, while still retaining Jet City Sports Club's signature indie rock sound.

The band describes the song as a narrative from the perspective of a young girl struggling with body image and societal expectations. "'Mini Skirt' is about growing up and realising there isn’t one right way to do things," they explain. "You don’t have to be perfect or conform to the ways your friends, family, or the world might want you to." The verses delve into these insecurities, while the chorus bursts with a defiant sense of self-worth and independence.

This confident energy translates seamlessly into Jet City Sports Club's live performances. Since their debut in 2021, the band has been making waves in the Australian music scene, sharing stages with the likes of Ruby Fields, Old Mervs, and Dear Seattle. They've also graced festival line-ups at Lost Paradise and Mountain Goat Valley Crawl, with upcoming appearances at Rolling Sets and Party In The Paddock.

With strong support from Triple J, Triple J Unearthed, community radio, and streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, Jet City Sports Club are proving themselves to be a force to be reckoned with. 'Mini Skirt' is another solid addition to their growing catalogue, showcasing their knack for crafting infectious melodies and relatable lyrics. If this latest release is anything to go by, Jet City Sports Club are set for an exciting year ahead.
