Singer-songwriter Tom Grennan is back and ready to take his career to new heights with the announcement of his fourth studio album, ‘Everywhere I Went Led Me To Where I Didn't Want To Be’, arriving on August 15th. This exciting news comes alongside the release of his latest single, ‘Shadowboxing’, and the announcement of Grennan '25, an extensive UK and Ireland arena tour kicking off this September.
The 15-track album follows Grennan’s successful 2023 release, ‘What Ifs & Maybes’, and promises a fresh, evolved sound for the multi-platinum artist. Fans eager for new music after his recent Christmas hit, ‘It Can’t Be Christmas (Amazon Music Original)’, which narrowly missed the Christmas number one spot, will be thrilled with this latest offering.
Grennan has firmly established himself as a major force in British music with two number one albums, Brit and Ivor Novello nominations, and a string of chart-topping hits. His captivating live performances have led to sold-out tours, culminating in a massive headline show at Gunnersbury Park last summer.
For this new album, Grennan teamed up with renowned songwriter and producer Justin Tranter, known for his work with artists like Britney Spears, Dua Lipa, and Linkin Park. Together, they've crafted a sound inspired by music icons such as George Michael, Prince, and Freddie Mercury. “So much of the new music is uplifting — it makes you dance, makes you sing,” Grennan says.
‘Shadowboxing’, the second single from the album following September’s release of ‘Higher’, offers a glimpse into this new sonic landscape. “It represents what the whole album is about,” Grennan explains. “It's about my fight with a side of me I have a lot of trouble with. It’s still a daily battle. But I’ve learned how to fight all these demons and I’m mentally and physically prepared now. I’m in athlete mode.”
Despite its title, ‘Everywhere I Went Led Me To Where I Didn't Want To Be’ is ultimately a positive record about self-acceptance, resilience, and embracing risk. Grennan reflects, “This album is about me, revived. Now I'm at a place where I DO want to be. And I'm ready to blow people's heads off.”
This latest project marks a significant evolution for Grennan, building on the success of his gold-selling debut ‘Lighting Matches’, his chart-topping albums ‘Evering Road’ and ‘What Ifs & Maybes’, and a staggering 2.5 billion streams. With this new album, Grennan is poised to solidify his position as one of the UK’s most exciting and dynamic musical talents.
