Venice Qin, fresh from a vibrant performance at New Zealand's BIG GAY OUT, has unveiled her highly anticipated 2025 single, 'New Woman'. This electrifying track marks a powerful new chapter for the rising dance-pop artist, showcasing her resilience and artistic growth.
'New Woman' is a testament to Qin's collaborative spirit, crafted alongside Maribelle (also known as Vetta Borne), with mixing expertise from Lucy Blomkamp (known for her work with B.Wise, Becca Hatch, and Ninajirachi) and Antonia Gauci (who has worked with artists such as DMAs, Ke$ha, and Troye Sivan). The result is an electronic powerhouse, characterised by a driving beat, infectious melodies, and Qin's signature vocal prowess.
The song's core message resonates with anyone who has navigated the turbulent waters of heartbreak. Qin candidly shares, "I wrote ‘New Woman’ while sitting on the floor of my apartment in Sydney. At the time I had recently gone through the most horrific heartbreak (up until this point, lol), flown to China and back, just moved apartments, it was chaos. It’s the typical girl with heartbreak, and I am MOVING ON story! We’ve all been there."
She further elaborated on the emotional backdrop of the song, "During the break-up, I remember sitting in my new apartment wishing I could move out. It was crazy, but every crevice and corner of the place held memories, it just felt so tainted by their touch. I knew I had to stop and redesign all the memories in my mind. I moved a few months later and finally felt I had begun a new chapter. I was a cleansed, refreshed ‘NEW WOMAN’ post-break up."
The accompanying music video for 'New Woman', filmed in New York with Made_In, presents a stylish visual narrative, with Qin channelling a modern Carrie Bradshaw, complete with iconic Manolo Blahnik shoes. The video's aesthetic complements the song's themes of renewal and self-discovery.
