An enigmatic artist who has been taking over the world with his bold EDM sound, Or Golan has made his mark in perfect form. With over 206,000 copies of his latest single sold, along with radio plays, articles, radio and television interviews, and spots around New York City’s famous Times Square, he’s become a sensation in more than seventy countries.
Now, it’s our turn to get better acquainted with the rising star and hear all about his journey, inspirations, and best moments so far.
Great to meet you! You’ve had a wild ride so far, taking over the airwaves all across the world, but how did Or Golan begin?
“I'll start with complete honesty baby. At eighteen, I knew I had something in this world, I knew there was something I was supposed to take advantage of one day, but music did not start for me at eighteen. Before breaking into seventy countries with the song ‘I am Greedy’ I wrote four books in Hebrew. But you guys want to hear about my songs so here's the story.”
“It happened by complete mistake, in May 2020 I was just bored and had a feeling I was supposed to make music, the first album was ‘Superstar Baby’ and it was amazing, and it all rolled into what I am today. An international musician who performed in Times Square thanks to one song ‘I am Greedy’.”
‘I am Greedy’ was definitely your breakthrough anthem, but you’ve had a number of big releases before that. How would you describe your sound?
“I do not think any artist has a certain sound because it really does not matter if we say now I will choose that I make classical music and suddenly I will get a pop hit for a while”.
Do you have any set influences that help define or inspire your music?
“Hi Britney Spears, if you see it I'm crazy about you ass! No kidding, I'm a fan of Britney Spears for seven years and she just changed the world of pop music in a second, she's a real artist, not like the artists we have today.”
Can you give us a bit more detail about ‘I am Greedy’, tell us about the track in your words?
“One minute and thirty-one seconds of intoxication, a dizzying success in the world, just makes dancing and rejoicing that we are in this life.”
What is your songwriting process for a track like ‘I am Greedy’, what stands out most for you?
“God has given me a huge talent in this world that I just do not know how I did all my songs because I never learned musical notes. I did not learn in music schools, everything I did from hearing. The tunes came to me whole from God and I am so thankful for that every day.”
“As a musician, I always say that if you have it in mind then you are fine because it just comes but if you have nothing then you are in huge trouble.”
What’s next for you as an artist?
“Here my sincerity continues. The song that has already published me all over the world is ‘I am Greedy’. I have 192 songs published but only one managed in the world, did quantities but really quantities of radio broadcasts all over the world, I did radio interviews, I appeared on TV, wrote about me in magazines from all over the world, I was a placed first so many times thanks to this song, Times Square I already said?”
“This song makes everyday amounts of money that every artist would dream of making, and all that money was stolen from me at all that the record company I was signed to ACUM in Israel did not see such amounts of money so it stole all the money I made and will make thanks to this song. I will not see a single dollar of it my whole life, so I have decided not to take any song out of such great pain that has been done to me.”
What has been your greatest moment as an artist so far?
Obviously, this will be my show in Times Square, I'll be forever to the end of my days, in this world I will not forget this day the 23rd of September 2021, I also remember what happened in heaven when I got this thing it is not just luck.”
One last question before you go, is there anything you would like to say to our audience?
“Dream, do things, create, have fun, live, be happy that you are here in this life because it can change in one moment.”
