Lira, it’s so lovely to have you here. Your journey in music and your new single has been incredible to follow. Where did it all begin?
“I first started writing music at the age of eleven. What began as a personal outlet soon grew into a way for me to explore and express my inner world. Music has always been a reflection of my thoughts and inner dialogues, both with myself and with the world around me. My inspiration primarily comes from a desire to bring joy and hope to people, reminding them of their own beauty and the beauty of life.”
Can you tell us a bit about ‘(Re)Birth’ and what it means to you?
“My latest project is a deeply personal exploration of change and transformation. To me, it’s more than just music; it’s a reflection on the fear and hope that come with new beginnings and the process of embracing change. It is particularly meaningful to me as it reflects my personal journey and growth. I hope it resonates with others who are navigating their own transformations.”
Are there any artists, moments, or experiences that influenced you when writing the project?
“’(Re)Birth’ was profoundly shaped by my experience of transitioning to a new chapter in my life. I left behind an old life and old version of myself to start fresh in a new country, navigating a new culture, language, and forming new relationships while striving to become a better version of myself. This journey pushed me into a zone of discomfort, facing unfamiliar situations that were both scary and challenging.”
“I was constantly confronted with the fear of making the wrong choice and losing everything, yet this fear was also mixed with the excitement of building the life I truly wanted and the freedom to be who I really am. These intense emotions deeply influenced the music.”
What was your music writing process with the song?
“My music-writing process is both intuitive and reflective. It begins with a spark of inspiration, which may come from conversations, people, my feelings about them, or personal experiences. I then focus on a specific memory, emotion, or something I find beautiful or fascinating about a person or situation. I immerse myself in these feelings and memories, reliving them throughout the creation of the piece until it feels complete.”
Is that sense of intuition, and the organic nature of a song the more important thing when you’re writing?
“The most important thing when I’m writing music is not to be afraid of being vulnerable and sincere. I focus on expressing genuine emotions and how I truly feel, without hesitation. And I should say, it's not an easy thing to do.”
One last question before you go – what has been your best moment as a musician so far? What stands out most for you?
“One of my best moments as a musician has been seeing people respond emotionally to my work and knowing that it resonates with them on a personal level. It’s incredibly rewarding when my music helps people discover something beautiful and powerful within themselves, and find relief. Or even inspiration. I’ve even seen some of my friends moved to tears while listening to my music, which shows how deeply it resonates with them and what they are going through. To me, that connection is beautiful and profoundly meaningful.”
