Remisado & Seven Beretta Are Bringing the Heat and the Heart to Sydney's Music Scene

Sydney's inner city has birthed a dynamic duo, Remisado and Seven Beretta, who are set to redefine the city's R&B and hip-hop landscape. Their debut single, 'Why?', is a captivating blend of smooth melodies and hard-hitting drums, showcasing their unique sound that's both raw and reflective.

Emerging from a decade-long friendship fuelled by a shared love for music, Remisado and Seven Beretta are ready to make their mark, injecting a fresh perspective into the Australian music scene. In this interview, we delve into their creative process, the inspiration behind 'Why?', and their aspirations for the future. From the challenges they faced to the influences that shaped their sound, we uncover the journey of these two rising stars.

Guys, it's great to be chatting with you about the new single. There's a lot of hype around it, all really well deserved. When we last spoke, you mentioned that Sydney's music scene was missing something. What was that missing element, and how does your music fill that gap?

"When we started, we felt like Sydney’s music scene lacked a unique sound in R&B and hip-hop, something moody, yet hard-hitting. Our music incorporates smooth melodies with heavy drums to create something fresh and true to us. We just wanted to give people something different to vibe with."

The new single perfectly blends smooth melodies with hard-hitting drums. Can you elaborate on the creative process behind this specific sound? How do you balance these contrasting elements?

"Our creative process for 'why?' was all about finding the right balance between the two. Almost a push and pull vibe where the melodies were always flowing and moving while the drums punched though to keep the listener engaged."

There's a raw, reflective, and really authentic quality to your music. Can you each share a personal experience or emotion that inspired that in the new single?

Remisado: "For me, relationships and confronting new emotions inspired the song. at the time of creating 'Why?' I was faced with lots of confusing and new emotions towards people in my life and a lot of the time the question I’d end up asking is why?"

Seven Beretta: "As for me, 'Why?' is really an emotion in itself amplified in problematic relationships, deciding what’s wrong or right and the thoughts of pursuing what we want. At the time of making this song I really wanted to create something that reflected my life as it wasn’t just one experience that influenced this but many."

The music video for 'Why?' is out now. What was the concept behind the video, and how does it complement the song's message?

"We aimed to create a narrative that reflected the raw and reflective nature of the song. In the making of this video, we also wanted to represent the real-life experiences of young men growing up in public housing communities around the inner city, highlighting the contradicting relationship of love and money in which many of us face."

What were some of the biggest challenges you faced in the four years leading up to your debut, and how did you overcome them?

"Trying to find our sound and incorporate what we both loved about music was challenging. We knew we had to come up with something different to stand out in Australia and perfecting that took a lot of work."

You've shared that 'Why?' is just the beginning. What can fans expect from Remisado and SeveN Beretta in the near future? Are there any upcoming projects or releases you can tease?

"Over the summer we definitely have some music that will elevate the current sound of Australia and showcase something we have only seen in the mainstream music scene overseas. 'Why?' is just a little icebreaker in showing what’s to come."

Who are some of your biggest musical influences, both individually and as a duo? How have these influences shaped your sound?

Remisado: "Drake was one of my biggest influences growing up and still is now. The way he was able to change the whole music scene in Toronto and become a legend in his own city was so inspiring to me and is something I am to achieve in Sydney."

Seven Beretta: "PartyNextDoor is my biggest influence in creating music that is complexly artistic. The storytelling abilities intertwined with the rawness of his earlier music really reflect something inside me that I have faced all my life. What PND is to Toronto, I aspire to be for Sydney."

How would you describe your live performance style, and what kind of experience do you aim to create for your audience?

"Our performance style is energetic yet moody, we aim to encapsulate an exciting yet raw experience that one can only really understand once seeing us live."

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians who are just starting their own journey in the industry?

"Stay true to who you are and no matter how tough it gets creatively keep working and don’t give up."

With a sound that's set to elevate the Australian music scene and a passion that shines through, Remisado and Seven Beretta are ones to watch. Their journey, marked by dedication, authenticity, and a drive to create something truly unique, is an inspiration to aspiring musicians everywhere. Keep an eye out for their upcoming releases – this is just the beginning for this dynamic duo.
