Angus Legg Releases 'Dopamine', A Raw and Unfiltered Anthem of Anxiety

Melbourne's Angus Legg has unveiled his latest single, the raw and unfiltered anthem 'Dopamine'. This track dives deep into the chaotic experience of an anxiety attack Legg encountered in London. Through stream-of-consciousness lyrics, Legg vividly captures the where, who, and how of the event, providing a raw and honest portrayal of the emotions and events leading up to it.

Legg shares, "'Dopamine' explores the chaos I felt during an anxiety attack I had in London in 2023. I hadn't experienced anything like it before, I wasn't actually quite sure what was happening. I wanted the feeling of the track and the lyrics to reflect the feeling of that moment, the fear of not understanding what was happening, the incessant search through my brain to understand why it was happening. It was the first time I wrote a song with a stream-of-consciousness lyrics style, it ended up being a cathartic exercise, we created a song I truly resonate with."

The track's production and mixing, helmed by close friend and fellow Melbourne artist Jim Alxndr, known for his collaborations with Angie McMahon and Carly Rae Jepson, create a sonic landscape that mirrors the emotional intensity of Legg's lyrics. Alxndr's "passion for artistic experimentation shines through in the record", as Legg puts it, with layers of depth and texture that subtly enhance the emotional journey. Mastering by Alex Gordon from Abbey Road Studios further refines the sound, adding a polished touch to the raw emotion.

Building on the success of previous tracks 'Spaceship' and 'Drugs With My Friends', which garnered support from Apple Music, Rage, The Au Review, TOPS, and Backseat Mafia, 'Dopamine' promises to further solidify Legg's position as a rising acoustic indie talent. The track's deeply personal nature, combined with its exploration of universal themes of mental health and challenging experiences, is sure to resonate with listeners on a profound level.

As Legg reflects, "'Dopamine' is so personal to me yet I think the chaos of the story will resonate throughout listeners, mental health is universal, so are difficult experiences, it's an honour to create art that expresses and explores those themes."
