bedbug soars with their new album, evolving from DIY darlings to a true indie rock force

Los Angeles' bedbug has delivered on the buzz surrounding their fourth studio album, 'pack your bags, the sun is growing.' Released March 15th via Boston's Disposable America label, this release marks a significant milestone. It's the band's first full-length album in four years and a testament to their creative evolution.

bedbug is the brainchild of Dylan Gamez Citron, a musical chameleon whose project has blossomed from intimate solo beginnings. Initially crafting soundscapes with Casio synths, loop pedals, and cassettes in Boston, bedbug quickly evolved into a fully realized indie rock band. Their 2016 debut, 'i got smaller grew wings and flew away for good' became a lo-fi Bandcamp darling, garnering widespread praise.

Run For Cover Records quickly took notice, releasing bedbug's subsequent albums 'i’ll count to heaven in years without seasons' and 'life like moving pictures' through their Joy Void imprint. Favorable reviews in top publications and opening slots for acts like Japanese Breakfast, Snail Mail, and Lomelda further fueled their rise.

Now, 'pack your bags, the sun is growing' showcases bedbug's exciting new chapter. Their first studio-recorded LP with a full band, it offers a revitalized urgency. bedbug pays homage to indie rock icons like Built to Spill and Modest Mouse, while retaining the heartfelt bedroom pop energy that first endeared them to fans. The album's lyrical approach is kaleidoscopic, mixing confessional honesty with dreamlike narratives.

Speaking about the new album, Dylan shared, "This is a bit of a new direction for bedbug, the entire record was recorded in-studio. We put a lot of love into it, and made sure there's still lots to love for the longtime "lofi" fans. I'm a bit nervous about this one, it's been a few years since I've put out new music. it's also the most ambitious bedbug album by far, so I appreciate everyone who's been sticking with me!”
