Australian-born, LA-based artist Bobi Andonov has dropped his highly anticipated sophomore EP, 'SAINT'. The genre-bending alt-pop collection is a deeply personal exploration of evolution, heartbreak, and the complexities of relationships.
'SAINT' offers an intimate glimpse into the artist's life, with Andonov's raw and undeniably electric sound carrying the listener through themes of self-discovery and raw emotion. His introspective lyrics and diverse musical influences create a uniquely compelling soundscape.
The EP's title track, 'Saint', was a labour of love for Andonov. "It was an exciting project that took a while to complete. The idea had been on my mind for months, and watching The Bee Gees documentary finally sparked it. The studio scenes behind classic hits inspired the layered chorus in "Saint," pulling the song together."
He continued, "The song is about someone trying to cover up past wrongs by pretending to be good suddenly. It's like when people turn to religion to clear themselves. One standout line is ‘you know that your faith can't make you a saint,’ summing up the message.”
Andonov describes 'SAINT' as a "defining moment." He returned to his family home in Melbourne to write during the winter, finding the space and solitude to delve into his experiences in LA. This allowed him to expand his sonic world, drawing from eclectic influences like Prince, Jai Paul, and INXS. Back in LA, he collaborated with Dylan Bauld (Halsey, Lights, Flor) and Sam Watters (Lucky Daye, Whitney Houston, Bebe Rexha) to bring the EP to life.
Bobi Andonov's unique artistry has earned him praise from outlets like Billboard, NYLON, Time, and triple J. With the release of 'SAINT', he further solidifies his position as an artist on the rise in 2024.
