Newcomer Korby arrives in perfect form with his debut EP 'I'll Explain Later'

Newcomer Korby arrives with his debut EP 'I’ll Explain Later' via Neighbourhood Recordings. Following the well-received debut singles ‘Wait For You’, ‘Feel My Face’ and ‘Nosebleeds’, the rising singer-songwriter returns with a live piano performance of single ‘My Garden’ to usher in his debut offering with conviction. 'I’ll Explain Later' provides a first look into the inner-workings of Korby’s artistic psyche, as the singer harnesses his penchant for driving emotion through sonics to deliver a record brimming with vulnerability.

As Korby tells stories that unpack his foundations for human connection across the 7-track- EP, he uses his dynamic understanding of organic sounds to musically assess his own ideas of the perfect forms of emotion; from chasing high’s right through to life’s turbulent lows.

On tracks ‘Feel My Face’ and ‘Wait For You’ Korby harnesses his ambient bass melodies to create a despondent mood, over which he lyrically explores themes including life’s trials and unrequited love. On ‘Nosebleeds’, ‘Making Faces’, ‘To Let Go’ and ‘Young Until We Aren’t’, the songwriter conveys defining details of his romantic relationships atop of his intrinsic guitar playing; from raw acoustics right all the way through to completely modulated synths.

Elsewhere, on standout track and visual ‘My Garden’ Korby juxtaposes the light and dark, the hope and despair of life, love and relationships, taking a simple but affecting piano line and building it into a moment full of texture and passion.

Speaking on the inspirations behind his debut, Korby says, “[I’ll Explain Later], was born from chasing the feeling of how good music pulls on your soul. How it forces you to feel something. I didn’t exactly set out to write this EP, I was simply processing the labyrinth of life and emotion and ended up telling these stories from the inside out. I guess in the end this is what I needed to say, and it felt really cathartic to do so”.

Korby’s on an upwards trajectory. As a multi-instrumentalist with a hand in the production of all of his records, stepping onto the scene as a newcomer, he’s got all the makings of a rising star set to connect with a global audience. Having already received national radio support in the UK on 6Music, Radio 1 and 1Xtra, and national radio support in Australia on triple j, as well as massive editorial support across the board on Spotify (New Music Friday, Our Generation and The Indie List), with 'I’ll Explain Later' he is making his bold entrance.
