Skegss Announce New Album 'Pacific Highway Music' and Release Jangly Single 'Out Of My Head'

Australian duo Skegss, composed of Ben Reed and Jonny Lani, have unveiled their forthcoming album 'Pacific Highway Music', set to drop on October 18th via Loma Vista Recordings. This announcement was accompanied by the release of their jangly new single 'Out Of My Head' and a playful karaoke-style music video.

"'Out Of My Head' is about not letting negativity consume you," Reed explained. "It's a reminder to focus on what makes you happy and not dwell on mistakes."

Produced by Paul Butler, 'Pacific Highway Music' showcases the band's evolution, combining explosive rock energy with introspective lyricism. Reed's frenetic vocals and playful lyrics explore the complexities of human emotions with sincerity and a touch of joie de vivre.

The album's wildly unpredictable sound stems partly from demo sessions at Rancho de la Luna in Joshua Tree. Reed, inspired by artists like Iggy Pop and Deepakalypse, embraced new textures and atmospheres, adding layers of synths and unexpected sonic elements to the mix. The result is a dynamic and exhilarating sonic journey that captures the band's creative freedom and willingness to experiment.

The album's title pays homage to the Australian coastal road that has been a constant backdrop for the band's tours and surf trips. "The Pacific Highway puts me in a hypnotic state," Reed shared. "I wanted to create songs that evoke that same feeling - songs that transport you to another world."

From their early days playing skate parks and pubs to headlining major festivals, Skegss have cemented their place in the Australian music scene. Their debut album 'My Own Mess' and sophomore release 'Rehearsal' both garnered critical acclaim and chart success.

With 'Pacific Highway Music', Skegss continue to push boundaries, crafting a captivating blend of raw energy, introspective depth, and infectious melodies. It's an album that invites listeners to embrace the full spectrum of human experience, from the exhilarating highs to the quiet moments of contemplation.
