Canadian folk duo The East Pointers have kicked off 2025 with a poignant new single, 'Anniversary'.Released on January 10th, the track is a heartfelt tribute to their late bandmate Koady Chaisson, whose 40th birthday would have been on December 4th.
Tim Chaisson and Jake Charron, the remaining members of The East Pointers, channelled their emotions into the song, creating a piece that radiates hope and resilience. "When Jake and I sat down to write, ‘Anniversary’ was the first song that came out—it was as if Koady was in the room with us, it flowed so fast," Tim shared.
'Anniversary' is more than just a remembrance; it's a celebration of life's turning points. Driven by a vibrant blend of instrumentation and soaring backing vocals, the song encourages listeners to embrace positive change and look towards a brighter future.
Jake explained the inspiration behind the song: “‘Anniversary’ is a song about how making one positive decision can change the rest of your life. 11 years ago today (on his birthday) our late band member Koady made some major changes to his life to improve his mental health, one of which was becoming sober. This is a song to celebrate fresh starts, milestones, and the wins that we have along the way, big or small.”
The East Pointers hope 'Anniversary' will resonate with anyone who has experienced personal triumphs, encouraging them to acknowledge their achievements and keep moving forward. As Tim puts it, the song "gives anybody permission to give themselves a pat on the back, for any of the wins or positive changes in their life. A celebration you continue to honour, especially when times get tough.”
Fans can catch The East Pointers live as they embark on an Australian tour throughout February and March 2025, playing a mix of festival appearances and headline shows. 'Anniversary' is sure to be a highlight of their set, offering a moment of reflection and celebration for both the band and their audience.
