cmon3tta's 'BHIND THE CNZ' Delivers Sonic Surprises At Every Turn

cmon3tta, the alter-ego of seasoned musician, Chris Eberlein, has unveiled ‘BHIND THE CNZ’, a 14-track exploration into dizzying, incandescent, and experimental soundscapes. Chris, a veteran of the music scene, describes this project as a personal offshoot, a space to experiment with plugins, effects, and electronic flourishes. "I'm really excited to do this offshoot of my personal music stuff," they explain, "It's still me, just using lots of plugins and effects and even sometimes a dose of electronic flair."

The album bursts onto the scene with ‘Away For Daze’, a track defined by its euphoric introduction and lively vocals. It’s a captivating listening experience, with the beats and vocals working in perfect harmony, while the track seamlessly shifts between modern and timeless elements. It’s a track that sets the tone for an album, proving that Chris isn’t afraid to traverse genre boundaries.

‘CrayZ’ spotlights Catalina Christina’s vocals, infusing the album with a pop sensibility while maintaining an alt-electro core. It’s a bold illustration of Chris’ ability to play with styles and sounds, fusing different mixes into a cohesive whole. On ‘Dance Like The Disco’, there’s a knowing, nostalgic nod to disco, with a heavy bass and heart-warming tones. Coupled with Qweeny’s vocals, the track creates a fresh take on well-known genre that everyone can enjoy.

Beyond the collaborations, instrumental tracks like ‘BOOMbek’ showcase a unique creative trajectory, driven by pulsing rhythms and a freestyle percussive performance. ‘TooSick’ ventures into more experimental territory with the inclusion of a sitar, demonstrating Chris’ determination to push sonic boundaries, while ‘Mids in America’, featuring Deedi, delivers a raw portrayal of modern life, set against a reflective musical backdrop. A true highlight on the album, ‘Orchesthrills’ is a vibrant fusion of electronica and orchestral strings, layered over nostalgic club sounds.

The album takes a detour into warm melodic sounds with ‘The Weekend’, an acoustic pop interlude, before diving into a series of remixes of ‘Away For Daze’ and ‘6x |t 2 Me’. The closing track, ‘Screme & Showt!’ with Pat’rice, is an undeniable party starter, driven by a powerful beat and pop sheen

What truly stands out is the album’s multi-tonality and complex instrumentation. Throughout, Chris employs a wide array of instruments, including the Arturia MicroFreak synth, Alesis VI49 MIDI keyboard, and Moog Theremini, crafting intricate sonic structures that keep you engaged and constantly guessing.

As Chris puts it, "cmon3tta is about being able to express myself in a manner that allows me to be behind-the-scenes, yet still creative." ‘BHIND THE CNZ’ achieves this, revealing a musician exploring new sonic territories with a seasoned ear and a playful spirit.
