Big O – ‘Reflection of HE’

When we first met London-based hip-hop producer and engineer Big O, he was championing an impressive mixtape with San Diego producer Tranzformer, artfully titled ‘The Art of Duplexity’. A collaborative beat tape that saw both artist trading tracks and making their voices heard, the album established their sounds through unstoppable waves of enjoyable and impressive cuts, showcasing the very best of each producer. Now, Big O is back and stepping into the spotlight on his own, releasing a solo EP that represents the different styles of his music.

An American hip-hop record producer, recording and mixing engineer, and DJ representing the UK, Big O has been making beats since the age of thirteen, creating music that pays homage to his hip-hop roots, while also presenting his own creative visions. Delivering a smooth, soulful, and wonderfully experimental production style, Big O has become a ‘name to know’, and his latest EP ‘Reflection of HE’ is a perfect snapshot of his talents.

Delivering four original tracks, ‘Reflection of HE’ is a bold and undeniable introduction for listeners, carving out an enchanting instrumental journey that seamlessly transitions between lo-fi, R&B, boombap, and more. Set for release in a few days time on Chill Select Records, the EP shines through untethered creativity and Big O’s classically ingenious production, stitching together various samples, original keys, and synths to create a modern hip-hop tapestry.

Lead single ‘Shipping (Out)’ defines the EP, opening with a textured, melodic sound that typifies Big O’s sound. A smooth cut that progresses through quickstepping beats, light synths, and a calming edge, the song draws you in and leaves you wanting more, setting the stage perfectly for the rest of the EP. From there, Big O has you firmly locked down, and as each subsequent track lands, he proves just why he’s one of the most highly anticipated and talked about talents around.

Speaking about the EP, Big O explained, “’Reflections of HE' represents the different styles of my music ranging from Lofi, Boombap R&B, Chill & Lofi House. This EP is a small sweet gift for fans to enter into the mind of me with the various compositions this EP has to offer. This is my debut instrumental EP with Chill select Records.”

A brilliant talent, Big O began making his name in late 2017, when he collaborated with Queens, NY rapper L.O.U. to release ‘The South Side of Things’. In the same year, he released his debut instrumental album ‘Between Memories and Choices’ as well as an EP called ‘The Light of Day.’ Since then, Big O has secured coverage on Sphere of Hip-Hop, Earmilk, The Word is Bond, Above Average Hip Hop, and more.

Set for release on March 24th this year via Chill Select Records, and available to pre-order now on Big O’s Bandcamp page, ‘Reflections of HE’ is a captivating new EP that impresses with each and every listen.
