Born and raised in Darwin, Australia, singer-songwriter Emma Rowe has been given a talent for crafting quirky, modern rock songs, and with her new single, ‘Lioness’ she’s perfectly illustrated her sound.
Now, twenty-six and based in Adelaide, Rowe has made the first brave steps towards realising her vision as a fully-fledged artist. Taking the most emotive and relatable elements of indie rock and vibrant pop, she combines her compositions with a wealth of emotions, taking her sound to a new level filled with lust, hope, frustrations, and joy. Alongside her intricate instrumentals are her vocals, powerful and poignant, they show grace and control, forging an incredibly distinctive sound.
Combining her own style with that of her influences, Missy Higgins, Regina Spektor, Florence and the Machine and PJ Harvey, it’s easy to see the power and potential in Emma Rowe’s already impressive back catalogue. In 2016 she released her second EP, ‘MRO’, at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, winning over fans and critics alike, and with ‘Lioness’ she’s set to do it all again. Released this year, ‘Lioness’ is a track of real substance and powerful emotion.
The title track is a love song delivered with a mixture of romance, lust, and longing, with Emma Rowe at the heart of brilliantly impressive melody. It’s a song where the lyrics and compositions blend together to bring about something that is instantly and remarkably relatable. It’s a contemporary anthem that is set make an indelible mark, and it’s so easy to see it being an overwhelming hit.
