  • 1 min read

An aspiring artist who blends contemporary hip-hop with nostalgic reggae, King Lorde has just released a new animated video for ‘So High’.

Born Adrian Alphanso Crooks in Kingston, Jamaica, King Lorde’s love of world music began at an early age. At just three years old, he migrated to St. James with his family, and from there he studied and grew, taking in a diverse range of influences and sounds. Having been exposed to music at a tender age, his passion for music become intensified with each year older he became, and eventually he chose to take music to a higher level.

Attending talent shows across the community of Hartford, eager to flaunt his skills, his brilliant ideas led him to start writing songs, and in 2012 he recorded his first single ‘If A War’, produced by Mario Cheef Production. In 2015, King Lorde went on to release his mixtape, ‘The King Has Risen’ which sold over 2000 copies, marking the true beginning of his music career.

Now back in the studio and working harder than ever, King Lorde is taking strides in his career. ‘So High’ is one such effort. It’s a track that illustrates his unique sound, but also embodies his personal ambition and heartfelt philosophy that “All things shall perish from under the sky, Music alone shall live, never shall die.”

Check out the new single and it’s animated video above, which features a cartoon version of King Lorde sharing blunts with everyone’s favourite animated families.
